do you take a language? why did you like your arts school?

i have to take one for uni! but no i try to avoid it if possible. I’m not good with languages due to the way I think, so it’s an exercise in frustration

I liked my arts school mostly because everyone was really fucking gay lmao

also because i spent a lot of time in the arts room learning how to paint? If i hadn’t went to school in that environment i’m not sure i would’ve found my niche and art is so important to me now

Holy crap, your writing/notes are so cool??? Not gonna lie, I thought it was some exotic language before I realised it was mirror-style. Do you remember taking those cursive writing classes in like 4th grade? And did you enjoy those classes or nah?

thank you!! my notes are pretty but not very easy to work with lmao (i did get bonus points in a linguistics class for being able to write like that which was awesome)

i! did not actually have to take those classes! My schools orchestra class was off site, so if you were in it you got to skip cursive in order to bus to and from.

Which was good because my handwriting is godawful and my cursive is worse i would’ve failed so bad

did you ever draw on the notebook covers? that’s all i did

once you’re in uni you’re not allowed to draw on your notes

also in case ur wondering what the fuck is up with my handwriting: i take my notes either right-to-left mirror style or upside down

why? because i can

I go to a Catholic private school, and before that I was in public. What type of school did you go to and if you went to multiple ones like myself, which was your favorite?

i went to catholic school for kindergarten, regular schools for elementary and grade 7 and a bit of eight, and then a public arts focussed school for grades 8 to 12. Now i’m in uni!!

The arts school was my favourite, but it was also really annoying because they drama department got a lot of funding (since they did plays and brought in money), so us visual arts kids were left with scraps mostly

I’m enjoying university but i’m also In Hell and might be dropping out to pursue a tattoo apprenticeship

A study tip that worked for my messed up brain: listen to one kind of music for each class. For example I listened to country music in science, classical in math, rock in english, and pop in history

^^that ties into how your memory functions!! the different kinds of music key in to different memories and can trigger focus and the like

psychological technobabbly

SCIENCE!!

Saw your school post ^-^ What’s your favorite and least favorite subjects? Why?

aaa in high school my fave would’ve been art and my least favourite math!! i am a stereotypical art gay yes i know

now that I’m in university it really really depends on the professor! i’d say my favourite right now is p ro b a b ly SOC 225 deviance & conformity with ENGL 125 aboriginal sci fi a close second

my least favourite is POL S 212 contemporary political theory because it’s a lot of different philosophers and im bad at names

okay so here’s a v specific school question: most people grew up with certain subjects matched with certain colors of notebooks and refuse to look at them differently. so like, for me, science is a RED thing and math is blue and english is yellow and history is green. do you have ‘subject colors’?

YOU BET UR BUTT I DO

science is green! like a foresty green! math is bright red, english is cobalt blue, social studies is sky blue! History for me was yellow, and then art would be purple or black

let’s play a game!! I’m doing schoolwork all night tonight SO

Everyone: Feel free to ask me, or share your own school experiences! How do you motivate yourself? What’s your favorite subject? What are your insecurities? and so on and so forth. This is something that comes up semi often in my posts and in my askbox, so let’s all have a conversation

the tag to block for tonight will be ‘school discussion discourse’ and i’ll be using that for all related posts
